Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. This is the throughline of this two-day interactive, inclusive, in-person workshop at Avalon Yoga International. Join me and a small group of other students for a 3h/day workshop based on the insight meditation tradition, for both beginners and those with experience in mindfulness. Using the Buddhist story of the two arrows we will go over foundational principles of mindfulness and meditation, including dispelling prominent myths that stand in the way of a sustainable practice. We will work on mindfulness of body and breath, feelings, and mind(states). We will not sit all day - there will be yoga and movement! Expect short, didactic (dharma) talks, lively Q&A, practice elements (including mindful movement), and small group discussion and inquiry. The course is influenced by both Buddhist and Western philosophy and psychology. You will walk away with a deeper understanding of mindfulness and meditation as well as how to build this into your life. Sign up here.
